SEWER LINE INSPECTIONS

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH A SEWER LINE INSPECTION

Knowing the condition of your home's sewer line before you buy can be a very informative and beneficial diagnostic tool. A sewer line inspection is a video recording of the home's main sewer lateral including pictures of the potentially affected areas. A copy will be provided to the client along with a brief report. Problematic conditions to be aware of include: collapsed/broken lines, tree root infiltration (blocking the normal flow of wastewater), sections holding water (bellies), and excessive grease build-up can cause potential headaches with your newly purchased home.

Knowing the pipe's material is helpful as well. Older lines such as cast iron, Orangeburg, and transit (asbestos concrete) are prone to having issues and may very well be past their normal service life. Sewer line replacements can range anywhere from $50-$100 per foot, making for a costly repair once you take ownership of the property. Avoid these potential issues before they happen by getting a professional sewer line inspection!
